Residents are giving clues to their health status all the time.  Many of these are missed because Caregivers (and some RN’s) do not know them.  Picking up these early warning signs prevents disasters occurring to resident’s and improves family satisfaction.

  • Learn how to support the RN
  • What to look for and how to record it
  • Where to find information

Session Content:

  • Why is documentation important?
    Where to find information? 
    Why record keeping is important. 
  • Care Plans:  How and when to use Long Term and Short Term Care Plans & the role caregivers play.
  • Progress Notes: What is important to write down and why, what to look for and the impact of not passing on information early.

About Leigh Kelly: Leigh had been working in the aged care sector since 1974.  After a brief period exploring Plunket Nurseing, she chose to remain in the aged care sector.  She has been a Charge Nurse in Public Sector, owned her own Rest Home and Managed Rest Homes.  She now spends her time up-skilling the aged care industry in-house and in public workshops.  All her sessions are interspersed with practical stories that people can relate to. She is the author of 2 books, Life’s an Illusion, published 1997 and The Art of Caregiving, published 2008.
