For Clinical Update for Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses & Midwives

You will:

  • Increase your awareness of the area of pharmaco-vigilance through monitoring
  • Learn how to evaluate drugs through assessment of medications administered
  • Be able to detect early potential adverse events.

Outline of Study Day

  • Physiology of pain – what happens to the body in pain, how to identify and interpret pain
  • Basic pharmacology to understand how drugs are dispersed in the body
  • Why specific groups of drugs are used in what situations and the practical application of the following drugs
    • Methadone
    • Oxycodone/Morphine
    • Clonidine
    • Tramadol
    • Antihypertensives
    • NSAIDs/Panadol

Gigi is a well known expert in medication and medication management.  As a Registered Nurse she found it difficult to understand how medications worked so became a pharmacist.  The knowledge of both nursing and medications makes for a powerful and extremely knowlegable presenter who is able to relate to the clinical setting.  A rare combination of skill and knowledge that is hugely beneficial to health care.
