Who should attend?

  • Any staff member who involved in resident care i.e. RN’s EN’s Caregivers

You will learn:

  • How to use Hoists:
    Includes full hoist lift and standing hoists – advantages and disadvantages.  Safety and workplace considerations and potential risks.  When a hoist is not suitable.
  • How to use slings:
    Things to consider when using slings and what is important to look for to maintain comfort and safety to the resident. 
    Types of slings and their advantages and disadvantages.
  • Transferring a resident:
    Transfer belts & sliding boards. 
    Advantages and disadvantages. 
    One and two person transfers.
  • Rolling and turning a resident:
    Moving a person up a bed safely.
  • Self-Propelling Wheelchair:
    When and how to use. Tips to help a resident.

Presenter/Trainer: 
Dean Klink
Is a NZ Registered Physiotherapist, Approved Assessor for ACE Programme & ACC Registered trainer.  Dean works predominantly in the aged care and YPD sector working with residents and training staff.  He has been a physiotherapist for 20 years and spent six years working a Case Manager for First American Home Care in United States
