  • Review of the GI Tract and, physiology of bowel movements and defaecation cycle.
  • Cardiovascular and Neurological aspects
  • Drugs and how they affect the gastro intestinal tract, how they work, considerations for use and adverse effects of medications and how to properly administer these medications for the best outcome for the client/resident

Practical Microbiology for Registered and Enrolled Nurses
MRSA, EBSL, Clostridum Difficult and VRE are no longer buzz words.  Anitbioitc resistance is a real threat to health facilities and the community.  Understanding Microbiology, Immune Responses and Resistancewill better equip you to work in and maintain a safe environment.

Day 2 - Afternoon:

Guidelines to Assess, Treat & Prevent UTI’s

1 in 5 women will develop a Urinary Tract Infection in their lifetime. Younger people are more likely to exhibit symptoms and seek treatment while older people are often under diagnosed or misdiagnosed until a complication occurs. Untreated Urinary Tract Infections can lead to life threatening conditions.

  • Anatomy & Physiology Review
  • Physiologic changes in UTI’s
  • Complications Male & Female
  • Causative pathogens
  • Diagnostic Criteria, screening & Diagnosis
  • Laboratory Analysis – understanding those lab results
  • Treatment and Prevention Plan Guidelines
